01

Confirm the correct hiring route

Domestic worker arrangements have their own rules. Direct sponsorship, an authorised service provider and recruitment packages can involve different responsibilities and costs. Check the sponsor’s eligibility and the worker’s position before deciding which route meets your household’s needs.

02

Agree responsibilities in writing

The contract should clearly address the role, pay, rest, accommodation and other required protections. Recruitment and residence paperwork should align with the actual work arrangement. A residence visa alone does not replace the required domestic worker contract or permit.

03

Review the worker’s current status

An applicant outside the UAE follows a different sequence from someone already resident. Transfers, cancellations or previous employment can introduce additional checks. Share the current documents so the application plan can account for deadlines and the correct change-of-status process.

04

Request a complete cost breakdown

Government fees, recruitment charges, insurance, medical fitness, Emirates ID and ongoing employer responsibilities should be considered together. Packages are not always directly comparable. Request an itemised quote that explains what is included, who sponsors the worker and which payments recur.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Common questions.

Is there one income threshold for every package?

Requirements differ by sponsorship and provider arrangement. Confirm the exact route rather than applying one headline figure universally.

Can I hire someone already in the UAE?

Possibly, subject to lawful status, previous employment obligations and the approved transfer or sponsorship procedure.

Does the estimate include recruitment?

A residence estimate does not necessarily include recruitment. The written quote should separate these costs.
