Lost card. Clear next steps..
Understand how to report and replace a lost or damaged card without confusing replacement with renewal.

Secure the record first
If your card is missing, follow ICP’s reporting procedure so the identity record is protected. A damaged card may need to be presented. Check the current requirements directly; do not assume that an old checklist or a police-report requirement applies to every case.
Choose replacement or renewal thoughtfully
A replacement normally relates to an existing valid identity record. It may retain the original expiry instead of starting a fresh validity period. If the card is also close to expiry, ask whether renewal is the correct service before paying.
Prepare the application evidence
Use your current passport, residence information and any available card details. Verify your name, ID number, photograph and delivery address. The authority may request additional verification, particularly where personal details have changed or the record cannot be matched.
Track issue and delivery separately
Approval, printing and delivery are different stages. Keep the application reference and follow the status rather than relying on a general delivery promise. Urgent processing may be available for eligible applications, but confirm the applicable service and fee first.
Documents you need

Common questions.
Does a replacement give me a new validity period?
It generally replaces the existing card record. Confirm the expiry before choosing between replacement and renewal.
Do I always need a police report?
Requirements can differ. Follow the current ICP lost-card procedure for your application.
Can I use a digital record while waiting?
Check whether the organisation handling your transaction accepts the official digital identity record.
